Organizing the Kitchen Cabinets

What a disaster!  Since we moved into our new home a few months ago, I have been strategically trying to find homes for everything.  I like to have things with their “families” or like items.  I had stuff crammed into my cabinets and I could not find anything.

My hoarding instincts were creeping back in and I knew I needed to get on top of it.  The kitchen is the heart of the home and I, for one, want it to be an atmosphere of peace and order.

My friend, Vange, is a minimalist.  I took notice of her beautifully organized cabinets.  There were plastic containers stacked so precisely with a label on each.  Whenever I help cook with her in her home, I know where to find each ingredient which makes it so fun!  We made a plan to go shopping for the perfect [easyazon_link identifier=”B079WS8LNL” locale=”US” tag=”keepofthehome-20″]storage containers[/easyazon_link] .  I want the containers to match and stack as well so these were the perfect fit for me.

Vange helped me take all the stuff out of the cabinet and dump different powders into the [easyazon_link identifier=”B079WS8LNL” locale=”US” tag=”keepofthehome-20″]airtight containers[/easyazon_link] one by one with a pretty label.  It took us about 45 minutes to get this job done and it was really fun.  We were organizing the things I used the most and the things that I seldom use went into the pantry since these items clog up my work space when cooking.  She was brutal.  She has a sense for what is vital and what could be put on the back burner in the pantry.

Look at the difference…

Here is a video my daughter Megan made of me explaining how to organize your kitchen cabinets.  I am so excited to get back on my Youtube channel with weekly installments of cleaning, organizational, and cooking videos.  Megan is my creative director in this department.  I am so blessed.

Now, come join me, I will take you on a tour of my organized kitchen and give little tips along the way…
