Starting Your Garden From Scratch

Starting a garden where there never was a garden can be a challenge.  We have done this before many times but never actually filmed the start to finish project.  This spring I will be posting a video every step of the process so you can have all the tips you need to start your own garden from scratch. First you have to pick a spot that you know will get a lot of sun and find a way to turn over the grass to reach your beautiful top soil.  Tennessee definitely has two distinct types of ground.  We have what they call Chirt (a red rocky soil), and creek bottoms which tend to lend a richer soil.  This new place we bought a year ago has something which seems to fall somewhere in between.  We are quite happy with it and broke ground this past week.
