The Grass is Greener ~ By Mark Harrison

On our homestead, we have one small pasture and one large pasture.  The calf stays in the small one and the two horses stay in the larger one.  The other day I opened the gate between them and the horses could not wait to get into the calf’s pasture and the calf couldn’t wait to get into the horse’s pasture.  They seemed to think the grass was better on the other side of the fence even though they were actually the same.  I think after a few hours they realized that they were not much better off.  It reminds me of kids when you cut the cake, and everyone eyes up each others piece to see who has the biggest one. Learning that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side is one of life’s important lessons, most of us will never master it completely.
