Green Pastures

You know the old saying “The grass is greener on the other side of the fence”?  Well, it is.  Our last homestead had a rockier soil and seemed better for goats and sheep.  Our cow was making the most of it, but I tell you, the pasture over on our new place is way greener and nicer grass for cows.  I promised to show you all some photos of the new homestead, so I will share them today.  We are care taking this farm for our neighbor.  He has cattle, sheep, and goats.  We keep the grounds and also pay to rent the home.

It feels like a dream to be here as I just keep pinching myself.  Is this for real?  Do we really live in this beautiful home?  It is so fancy we feel like really rich people without the rich in money part.  However, we feel rich in ways that wealthy people are sometimes poor in… like the things that really matter in life-faith, love, and family.  It is probably temporary since we are just renting but, the way I see it, everything in life is temporary.  I figure we might as well enjoy it while it lasts.  Wow, you have no idea how fun it is to live in this house.  I love the pretty views out the windows and all the sunlight that pours in.  Heavenly, just heavenly.  It is all set up for off grid.  For one week we just used the water fed by spring and the pressure from the gravity.

We are blessed to help take care of many fruit trees, berry bushes, and nut trees down the driveway.  This year we have a huge canning garden at the old homestead down the lane.  We moved after the garden was in.  Who ever rents our old homestead will get to share in the harvest with us.  Hopefully, someone will move in that likes to can with me.  At this farm we have our milk cow and are enjoying plenty of fresh milk.   She is giving way more cream now that she is on such lush pasture grass.  Yesterday Megan made a batch of ice cream-yum.

What ever fruits or nuts are harvested, we get to keep while we are tending the farm.  We are raising 100 meat chickens and they are very happy here.  They have a large pasture they can pick around in as well.  Soon we will be getting 4 hogs to raise on the farm.  Our steer is doing well and enjoying his new farm as well.   We are very blessed to raise a lot of our food here.  God is so good to us.  We are so thankful and humbled by his goodness no matter where we have ever lived.  It is good to serve a Living God that is with us where ever we live.

We plan to use the pretty house for backdrops in a new film we are working on.  We hope it will be a blessing.   May we use this wonderful opportunity and farm to glorify God.  Enjoy the picture tour below…

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
(The 23rd Psalm)

I love this Psalm.  It is dear to my heart.  I feel like we are in an oasis living here on these green pastures with the beautiful creek flowing beside us.

I am thankful that God can restore our souls and lead us on new adventures throughout life.  Life is not always easy, but we look for those moments of peace and joy that shine through and it gives us hope.  We can keep going knowing God is comforting us and giving us strength for each new day.

Life is full of mountains and valleys.  We get our on top of the mountain feelings where nothing could get any better, and the valleys where we feel it could get no worse.  Yet we know God is faithful to keep us clinging to His side.  He is our shepherd, as long as we cleave to Him, He will supply our every need in due season.  Without the valleys and shadows we cannot appreciate true joy and gladness.

Goodness and mercy follows us.  Goodness is not always our version of goodness when good comes out of the pain of life or of doing things our own way.  Goodness is God molding us into something better.  He works all things together for our good.  Each passing year that we live, we learn and grow.

His mercy is available and new each morning so we have nothing to fear.  Knowing we have staked a claim on the other side of glory makes the roller coaster ride of joy and pain that we all experience through life feel temporary indeed.  We have earnest expectation of what is to come and hold fast to His promises each passing hour.

I am so happy for y’all. What a beautiful place to get to live in, even if it’s temporary.
May I ask you a personal question? Are you fearful at all about the length of time you’ll be able to live there? Like, do you fret at all about when you’ll have to leave, etc? (my nature would be to fear that)
    Hugs,
    Janet
